Governor Murphy’s New Jersey Clean Energy Act is a first step toward a renewable energy future in New Jersey, but we must be explicit and deliberate in ensuring that all New Jerseyans benefit from a clean energy future and are not burdened by health-harming pollution.
Implementing the New Jersey Equitable and Resilient Solar + Storage Policy Roadmap will ensure that New Jersey’s low-income families get the strongest protections, incentives and support to aid in a just and equitable transition to a clean energy future. The resulting Clean Energy Equity Act will help 250,000 low-income families benefit from solar and energy efficiency, install 400 megawatts of storage and create workforce development programs.
New Jerseyans can’t wait any longer for energy justice. The Clean Energy Equity Act passed the NJ State Senate and was sent to the Assembly in November 2020, where it’s been stalled ever since by the chair of the Telecommunications and Utility Committee, Assemblymember Wayne DeAngelo. These months of stalling meant New Jersey’s overburdened communities continue to face needlessly high energy bills, paying into an energy grid that is disproportionately polluting their neighborhoods and driving up health-harming pollution.
Call Assemblymember DeAngelo now and urge him to advance the Clean Energy Equity Act! Once you make this call, Governor Phil Murphy and Speaker Craig Coughlin should also hear from you!
